Curriculum & Instruction
School curriculum and instructional programs determines the content of what students learn and the methods that their educators use to teach, ranging from general educational requirements to specific programs for special education, English learners, and other specific types of students. All curriculum is evaluated by specialists within the district to ensure it will meet common core standards as well as align with Twin Rivers School District's mission, vision, and standards of excellence.
Mission
Ensure that ALL students are able to function within a culturally diverse society and the global arena by promoting high levels of student learning through the following practices:

swun math
swun math
Swun is named after the immigrant and English learner who struggled with math as a student. As a classroom teacher, he drew upon his experiences to ensure incredibly high levels of success for a diverse student population.
Swun Math is rooted in a dynamic lesson design, embodying best teaching practices that incorporate Gradual Release of Responsibility and Zone of Proximal Development research. Swun Math analyzes district, school, and classroom data to provide concise and effective lessons for students to achieve mastery in content based on the Common Core State Standards in mathematics.
Swun Math provides grade level specific professional development, beginning with initial sessions which include supporting teachers with demo lessons, co-planning, and co-teaching. Moreover, Swun Math provides all the materials necessary for full implementation, including the pacing guides, assessments, and instructional strategies for effective instruction in mathematics.
School and district administrators receive support with on-site coaching and monthly professional development by administrators who have successfully implemented Swun Math at the school and central office level.

iReady
iReady
iReady
i-Ready is an online program for reading that will help your student's teachers determine your student's needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress througouht the school year. i-Ready allosw your teachers to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student's learning gains. i-Ready i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question.
The i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn.

How Do I Access i-Ready Scores?
Twin Rivers as a district uses a portal where all educational apps can be accessed.
- Have your student log in to their laptop using their user name and password
- Click on the i-Ready icon
- Go to "My Progress" to look at your student's scores
Understanding i-Ready Scores
When you open your scores in Family Access you will see three types of scores:
1. An overall Scale Score
This is actual score your student received on the test between 200 and 800. See the scale score charts tab if you want to see the scale scores for each level for each test.
This is actual score your student received on the test between 200 and 800. See the scale score charts tab if you want to see the scale scores for each level for each test.
2. The Detail Level Scores for the overall test score and for each topic that was assessed. This is the score that tells you the most information!
The detail level converts the scale score to a 4-point scale (see below and to the right). Scores of 3.00 and above mean the student scored at or above the score expected of a student on track to meet standard. This score is based on the expectation at the time the test was taken, not in comparison to the end-of-year expectation.
3. Lexile Level
i-Ready Reading provides a reading level that can be used to help find independent reading levels, like the F&P A-Z scale. This is one of the most common measures of reading level. Each book in our library has a lexile label so students can choose books that they are interested in and that are at their level.
How Can I Use Scores to Help My Student
If your student scored significantly below, that may mean that your student has a skill gap needing support. Here are ways you can support your student. You can learn more about the score for each topic assessed in the panel below.
Communicate with your student's teacher
Your student's teacher uses i-Ready AND classroom tests, assignments, and observations to get a clear understanding of your student's skills. Your teacher will have insights and ideas for how you can help your student at home, if it is needed.
Use i-Ready at home
i-Ready creates a custom learning experience for your student called MyPath. The i-Ready system uses your student's answers to the test questions to identify next steps for learning and automatically assign lessons. When your student logs into i-Ready at school or at home, there is a next-step lesson for Reading ready to go.
For more tips on how to help your student meet the recommended usage of 45 minutes a week, visit the i-Ready Family Center.
i-Ready Scale Score Charts
Student performance is measured on a scale of 100-800, with your student's current score indicating the skills they have mastered up to that point in the school year and the skills they still need to work on moving forward.
Below are the i-Ready Scale Score charts that show the scale score of a student who is on track to meet standard, based on when the test is given. i-Ready tests are given as follows:
- Fall: September
- Winter: January-February
- Spring: April
- End-of-Year: late May/June
