Rio Tierra has a sports program that competes with other Jr High schools in the Twin Rivers district. Tryout dates as well as practices and games will be posted on our calendar. Our coaches are staff members who often play and/or coach outside the district in city and recreational teams. Sports we hope to offer include:

Volleyball
Basketball
Soccer
Co-Ed
Flag Football
Cross Country Track
Requirements
- Students must have a "Sports Physical Examination Form" filled out by a doctor in order to play any of the sports we offer. Only one is needed for the year if the student participates in more than one sport.
- Students must also maintain a 2.0 GPA with no grades less than a C- in any subject to be eligible to play in each game
- Students may not be suspended for any reason in order to remain eligible to play
- Students must maintain good attendance at school and practices
- Students must meet school-wide expectations, any referrals may result in suspension of one or more games. (Students who are suspended may sit with the team at home games but may not at away games).
- Students are expected to show good sportsmanship and Pioneer spirit....win or loose!
SPORTS EXPECTATIONS:
- Students must exit campus after school. Students in the After School Program should go directly to the After School Program and do not need to exit.
- Students and families attending games will enter the West Gate on Edmonton Drive near the Gym.
- There are no in and outs for students.
- Food or drink is not allowed inside the Gym.
- Students attending games must be at the game (no loitering around campus).
- Students may eat at the football games, but must clean up their trash.
- Students who have shown poor behavior will not be allowed to attend games.
Lastly, we expect positive cheering from our students and families.

Any student who wants to try out for sports must have all of the following items completed, signed, and turned into Mrs. Powell prior to trying out for a sport.
